Biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility (NMR)

The ASRC Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility features three state-of-the-art Bruker AVANCE III HD NMR spectrometers operating at 600, 700, and 800 MHz suitable for the full complement of biomolecular NMR studies.  All three spectrometers are equipped with either cryogenically-cooled or room temperature probes offering a wide range of 1H, 13C, 15N, 19F, 31P, and 2H NMR capabilities.

Equipped with refrigerated sample changers and remote operation capabilities, each of these instruments is able to independently run through 24 (SampleCase) or 600 (SampleJet) samples with limited user involvement.

Additional resources include i) two laser systems dedicated for studies of photoreceptors or other photochemical systems, ii) a high-pressure system for acquiring NMR data at pressures up to 2500 bar, and iii) 1.6-mm HXY magic-angle-spinning (MAS) probe for solid-state NMR experiments, capable of sample MAS rates of up to 40 kHz, for use with the 600 MHz spectrometer.

    Equipped with an Oxford Actively Shielded 14.1 Tesla standard bore magnet, 5-mm triple resonance inverse TCI CryoProbe and room temperature solution state probeheads, a PHOENIX 1.6-mm HXY solid-state probe, refrigerated 24-sample SampleCase, and TopSpin 3.5 software.

    Equipped with Bruker UltraShield 16.4 Tesla standard bore magnet, 5-mm quadruple resonance inverse QCI-F CryoProbe and room temperature probeheads, refrigerated 5×96-well plates SampleJet, BSNL liquid nitrogen liquefier, and TopSpin 3.5 software.

    Equipped with Bruker Ascend UltraShield Plus 18.8 Tesla standard bore magnet, 5-mm triple resonance inverse TCI CryoProbe and room temperatureprobeheads, refrigerated 24-sample SampleCase, BSNL liquid nitrogen liquefier, and TopSpin 3.5 software.

For academic users, we provide two options for usage:

  • Hourly usage with a monthly maximum cap of $2,000 per PI.
  • Annual usage with an annual flat rate of $15,000 for a guaranteed annual cumulative (aggregate) instrument time equivalent to ½ of one spectrometer. Unscheduled or unexpected free instrument time may be claimed on short notice by both hourly and annual users, with priority given to the former.

Commercial users may apply for time on hourly schedules as noted below.
